Cedarvaux is a small Bristol workshop that wanted the good half of a casino evening — the reels, the table talk, the collective intake of breath when a big one lands — and none of the half that empties pockets. So the till was never fitted, and everything else was.
What this place is
A free-to-play social casino. The games behave like the real article because the mathematics underneath is the real article — published volatility, honest odds, seeds you can audit at your leisure. The one deliberate difference is the currency: Cedar Chips are a score. They arrive free, they can never be bought, and they never turn back into anything at all. “The chips are the whole prize” is the design brief, not a disclaimer.
What it is not
Not gambling — nothing of value is staked here and nothing of value can be won. Not a doorway to gambling either: no operator links, no odds talk, no “when you fancy the real thing”. No shop, no card form, no roadmap that adds either. The absence is the product.
The people
Cedarvaux Play Ltd is a games company registered in England and Wales, working from a unit by the Feeder in Bristol. The Workshop games are built in-house, six partner studios keep the rest of the bill stocked, and the whole site runs on engineering a small team can genuinely maintain: one stylesheet, no trackers, storage in your own browser.
The promises we can be held to
- Free means free. Every chip comes from playing, the Common Room, the notice board or a friend's invitation. No exceptions, ever.
- Adults only. The door says 18+ and we mean it, entertainment-only or not.
- Checkable fairness. Every Workshop game commits its seed before the round and lets you rebuild it after. The fair-play page holds the tools.
- Kind by default. No countdowns, nothing that expires, and a pause switch nobody can talk you out of.
